What To Do About Makeup Stains

Makeup StainsMakeup stains can be very pesky. Usually you don’t notice them right away, and by the time you get to them, it can be really difficult to get rid of them. If you find a stain from any beauty products in your carpet, calling a professional is probably the safest way to go. If you want to attempt to combat the stains yourself, we have a few DIY tips that may help you out:

Lipstick

The sooner you find and address the lipstick stain, the faster it will come off. When you find a lipstick stain in your upholstery or carpet, try spraying some hairspray directly onto the spot. After you let it sit for about five minutes, wipe the impacted area down with a dry and clean cloth. You can also try applying some stain remover or spreading a couple of drops of detergent water over the lipstick  stain.

Eyeliner

Eyeliner can leave pretty pesky stains in upholstery and carpets. Start the cleaning up of eyeliner by mixing a solution of 2 cups of water with 1 tablespoon dish-washing soap. Sponge the stain with the solution. Use a clean white cloth. Absorb the excess liquid with a dry cloth. Repeat the process until the stain is gone.

Nail Polish

As for most stains, try to get to the nail polish stain up as soon as possible. When you find a fresh stain, try to blot as much as possible of the excess nail polish. Then, put a little bit of window cleaner on a sponge or a dish cloth and scrub the stain in a circular motion. After rinsing the affected area, the stain should disappear. You could also try pouring some non-oily nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol on the spot and then blotting the stain. Note: Be careful with these stronger cleaning attempts as it could harm the color of your rug or carpet.
