Professional Furniture Cleaning and Upholstery Cleaning
Over the last decade, the upholstery cleaning industry has evolved considerably.
There are many different fabrics and fibers used in upholstery today. Some fabrics today even use a combination of numerous fibers. Using the proper method of cleaning is crucial to prevent damage to the fabric. For us, cleaning furniture upholstery requires accurate fiber identification and understanding for how to effectively clean without causing deterioration to the fibers integrity.
Most fabrics today fall into one of two categories, natural fiber or synthetic fiber.
Natural fibers themselves are broken down into two categories, protein and cellulosic-based fibers. Protein based natural fibers are materials such as silk and wool. Cellulosic natural fibers are fabrics such as cotton and linen. Cleaning methods used for natural fibers are most often going to be Foam Cleaned or Dry Cleaned. Synthetic fibers are usually cleaned with hot water extraction, commonly known as, steamed cleaned.
It is important to properly identify the types of Fabrics before cleaning them.
Some upholstery manufactures have cleaning tags under the cushions. These tags can usually identify the method of cleaning required for that fabric. Due to their inexperience, many carpet cleaners are apprehensive to clean upholstery because it can lead to ruined fabric and furniture replacement if not executed correctly. The experience and skill level of our upholstery cleaning technicians instills the confidence necessary to handle such delicate fabrics.
