Holiday Parties & Grease Stains
The holidays are upon us which also means you will have people over for parties and other gatherings. There will be food and probably also some alcohol. The next day, after everybody went home you might find some grease stains on your carpets or upholstery. No need to panic! Here are a few tips on how you can combat those stains yourself:
How To Get Rid Of Grease Stains
The sooner you find the stains the better. Try to blot up as much of the grease as possible. Scrape off any dried grease with a plastic utensil. You can even try to apply some cornmeal which actually helps absorb grease. You can also use some baking soda and sprinkle it on the stain. Let it sit for about 10-20 minutes and then, using a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment, vacuum the baking soda off. Next, find a dry-cleaning solvent and dampen a cloth with it. Press the cloth onto the grease stain. Another way of tackling grease stains is using baby powder. Cover the stain in baby powder and wait till the powder absorbed the grease. Then, take a scrub brush and work a generous amount of upholstery cleaner into the affected area. This will help break up the grease stain. Now, put a little bit of liquid dish soap onto a clean cloth and work this solution into the grease stain. You could also try just using mild dish soap on the newly discovered stain. Take a damp cloth and rinse the affected area with a bit of warm water. Next, mix equal parts water and ammonia together. Apply this solution directly on the grease stain. Scrub the affected area. Then put a little bit of alcohol on a baby wipe to remove the grease. Another way of combating grease stains is putting a little bit of water on a sponge and adding a couple of drops of white vinegar.
